Radiohead — “I Might be Wrong (DJ Slouch Remix)”
Running through cobwebs made of stars, Slouch seeks an escape from the beautiful melancholy of the world created by Radiohead with his remix of “I Might Be Wrong.” His rich percussion, warbled basslines and mashed up guitar melodies create a sense of urgency and a touch of desperation. Meanwhile Thom Yorke’s disembodied vocals waft in the background as a reminder that the sky will stay dark. As usual, Slouch’s drums run deep with a broad instrumentation, richly layered in highs and lows, and leave no unnecessary empty space. The remix’s guitar solo break is coupled with a vocal sample, rendering the melody even moodier and extending it’s breadth. And the turbo bass doesn’t wobble like the rest. It warbles, centered on its own bent axis. Finally, Yorke’s singing comes to the forefront, reinforcing why we enjoy wallowing alongside him in despair.
